Getting Started with Tower

Welcome to Tower! This guide will help you get started with creating your first AI-powered dashboard.

Step 1: Connect Your Data Source

Tower supports multiple data sources including Excel, CSV files, and various databases.

Connecting a File

  1. Navigate to Data → Sources from the main menu
  2. Click New Connection
  3. Select your data source type (Excel, CSV, or Database)
  4. Upload your file or enter database credentials
  5. Preview your data to ensure it’s loaded correctly

Supported Data Sources

Free Version:

  • Excel files (.xlsx, .xls)
  • CSV files
  • Select databases

Enterprise Version:

  • Snowflake
  • Databricks
  • And many more (contact us for your specific needs)

Step 2: Create Your First Dashboard

Once your data is connected, Tower will automatically generate a dashboard for you!

  1. After uploading your data source, Tower begins processing
  2. A preview dashboard is generated on a sample of your data (usually within 1-2 minutes)
  3. The full dashboard is generated on your complete dataset (typically within 5 minutes for small to medium datasets)

What Tower Does Automatically

Tower’s AI analyzes your data and:

  • Identifies key metrics and KPIs
  • Selects the most appropriate chart types
  • Highlights important insights
  • Creates filters for interactive exploration

Step 3: Explore Your Dashboard

Your dashboard has two modes:

View Mode

  • See visualizations generated on your complete dataset
  • Interact with filters to drill down into your data
  • Export charts and reports
  • Share your dashboard

Edit Mode

  • Make changes using a sample of your data for faster previews
  • Chat with the AI to modify charts
  • Add or remove visualizations
  • Apply changes to generate the full report

Tip: Always remember to click Apply in Edit mode to make your changes permanent!

Step 4: Use the AI Chat Assistant

Tower’s AI chat assistant is your companion for working with data:

  • Get instant insights about your data

Accessing the Chat

The chat assistant is available in two locations:

  • Header (centered in the top navigation)
  • Floating button (bottom right corner)

You can change the chat position in Settings → Appearance.

Step 5: Customize Your Dashboard

Using Chat Commands

Instead of navigating menus, simply chat with your dashboard:

  • “Change the color scheme to blue”
  • “Rename this column to ‘Revenue’”
  • “Switch the axes on this chart”
  • “Remove the outliers from this visualization”

Manual Customization

You can also customize dashboards through the interface:

  • Click on individual charts to edit properties
  • Use filters to focus on specific data segments
  • Rearrange visualizations by dragging
  • Configure chart settings and colors
